Kosovo police officer who wounded Milan Jovanovic sentenced to three years in prison

In the Basic Court in North Mitrovica, Kosovo police officer Korab Pepaj was found guilty of attempted murder and sentenced to three years in prison. On April 10, 2023, Pepaj shot and injured Milan Jovanovic at a checkpoint near the Bistrica Bridge.
The time Pepaj spent in detention will be credited toward his sentence. He was acquitted of the charge of evidence tampering.
Faton Maloku and two other police officers were acquitted of charges of failing to report a criminal offense.
Additionally, Pepaj is required to pay court costs (380 euros) and contribute 50 euros to the Crime Victims Compensation Fund.
This verdict can be appealed to the Court of Appeals within 30 days.
