Serbian Interior Ministry: Suspect arrested for war crime against Serbian civilians in Pristina

Officers of the Serbian Ministry of the Interior, the Criminal Police Directorate, and the War Crimes Investigation Service, in cooperation with officers of the Leskovac Police Directorate and the Border Police Directorate, have arrested O.S. (1953) at the Mutivode border crossing on suspicion of committing a war crime against Serbian civilians in Pristina, the Serbian Interior Ministry announced.

According to the statement, there are grounds for suspicion that on 14 June 1999, in the Sofalija neighborhood of Pristina, the suspect, acting in concert with several members of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), killed Serbian civilians Vladimir and Persa Stanisavljevic, a married couple, using both bladed weapons and firearms.

The suspect was placed in police custody for up to 48 hours, after which he was, together with the criminal complaint, brought before the Office of the War Crimes Prosecutor. Upon the prosecutor's motion, the Higher Court in Belgrade, War Crimes Department, ordered that he be remanded in custody for up to 30 days.
