In North Mitrovica, the voting process is largely proceeding without problems, but communication with Albanian members of polling boards is hindered due to the language barrier.

Citizens of North Mitrovica are exercising their right to vote in small groups throughout the morning.

As they note, there are no long waiting times, but communication is difficult because Albanian members of polling boards are present at polling stations where more than 95 percent of voters are Serbs and who do not speak Serbian.

This problem was also pointed out to Kosovo Online by Dusan Radakovic from the NGO “Democracy in Action”.

He said that, although he speaks Albanian, he experienced difficulties while voting at his polling station.

“I can only imagine what it is like for those who do not know a single word of the Albanian language. I believe this is one of the more serious irregularities that I can point out,” he said.
