ECAP rejects Self Determination’s appeal against the Serb List: Unfounded claims
The Election Complaints and Appeals Panel (ECAP) has rejected Self Determination’s appeal against the Serb List regarding a banner displayed at a campaign rally in North Mitrovica reading “All for Brother Milan”, Kosovo Online has learned. ECAP stated that Self Determination’s claims that the banner referred to Milan Radoicic could not be substantiated, and therefore the appeal was dismissed as unfounded.
According to the decision of the Election Panel, Self Determination did not provide evidence in its appeal that the banner referred to Milan Radoicic, assessing that the party’s claims were baseless.
It was further noted that the Serb List rally was held as part of the local election campaign, in which Milan Radojevic is a candidate for mayor of North Mitrovica, as confirmed on the ballots, and therefore it is understood that the slogan “All for Brother Milan” is connected to supporting that candidate.
It is emphasized that, in the absence of evidence, Self Determination’s claims cannot be confirmed, have neither legal nor factual grounds, and are therefore rejected.
On September 15, Self Determination filed an appeal with the Election Complaints and Appeals Panel against the Serb List regarding the campaign rally in North Mitrovica, where the slogan “All for Brother Milan” was displayed. In its appeal, the party argued that this constituted “support for Milan Radoicic, glorification of terrorism, and incitement of political and ethnic hatred.”
The Serb List, in its response to the appeal, emphasized that the message of support was addressed to the party’s candidate for mayor of North Mitrovica, Milan Radojevic, and that the fact the name is the same is a coincidence.
The vice-president of the Serb List, Igor Simic, recently stressed that they know very well that the message “All for Brother Milan” was addressed to their candidate for mayor, Milan Radojevic, whom he described as an honorable Serb who defends the interests of the Serbian people.
“You saw the clear messages at the rally. There was also a huge banner ‘All for Brother Milan’, which some interpret one way or another. We know very well whom that message was meant for. Our candidate for mayor of North Mitrovica is Milan Radojevic, an honorable Serb who will defend the interests of the Serbian people and safeguard this city,” Simic emphasized.
