Popovic: Kurti's campaign based on hatred toward Serbs and the Serb List

Albin Kurti's campaign is solely based on hatred toward Serbs and restricting the rights of the Serb List, emphasized Srdjan Popovic, a candidate of the Serb List in the upcoming elections.

Popovic pointed out to Newsmax Balkans that the Serb List has faced various obstacles from the very beginning.

"We expected that we would have to fight to the very end and that more and more obstacles would be placed in our way. The rejection of our appeal was expected. We have been wronged, and this will certainly make our position in the elections more difficult," he said.

When discussing the legitimacy of the elections, Popovic stated that the government in Pristina clearly harbors more than just a personal animosity toward the Serb List.

"In the space that we have been given, we must fight. But we see that our people understand this in the right way," he added.

He expressed satisfaction with the Serb List's campaign so far, adding that it is progressing in the best possible manner.

"We are going from house to house, talking to our citizens across the entire territory of Kosovo and Metohija. There is still plenty of time left. We are in Kosovo and Metohija constantly with our people, sharing their fate. The people see that we are on the right side based on everything that is happening to us. As long as Pristina protests, we know we are on the right path," he emphasized.

When asked about the recent discussions between the Serb List and European observers, he reported that the topics included all the challenges faced by the Serb List and the denial of its rights.

"We are dissatisfied with the whole situation. We presented to the observers what is happening on the ground, the irregularities, what we have experienced from the government in Pristina and from the Central Election Commission. We have no positive experiences with the international community. We hope they will do their job professionally," he stressed.

Popovic highlighted that the Serb List wants the elections to proceed fairly and without anyone undermining its results.

Regarding Albin Kurti's campaign, he said that Kurti does not have a real campaign and that it is all about how much hatred he can show towards Serbs and how many rights he can deny the Serb List throughout Kosovo.

"I think such populist politics cannot last long. I believe that all citizens in Kosovo and Metohija want something tangible, economic programs, a way forward. As we can see, there is none of that, everything boils down to empty rhetoric and cheap political points that benefit no one," Popovic concluded.
