Vucic: Proud of the Serb List’s overwhelming victory in nine out of ten municipalities

President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic announced this evening that the Serb List won in nine out of ten municipalities in Kosovo in the local elections, and by an overwhelming majority. He said he was proud of this victory, adding that it was not him the voters in Kosovo listened to, but their own country — the only one they love and trust.

Speaking live on TV Pink from the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Vucic said that these were important local elections, in which Serbia, as a state, called on its citizens to go out and vote.

“A total of 57,786 Serbs went to the polls — more than in this year’s parliamentary elections, by 3,706 voters. I congratulate the citizens of Serbian nationality because in nine out of ten Serbian municipalities the Serb List won by an overwhelming majority,” he emphasized.

Vucic noted that only in Klokot would the Serb List face a runoff, and it remained uncertain whether it would be against an Albanian or a Serbian candidate.

He stressed that even in the municipality of Gracanica, where Albanians — on the orders of Albin Kurti — registered 4,900 Albanian voters, of whom more than 2,500 voted, the Serb List still won.

“There they tried with the Albanian and another Albanian Rašić’s list to defeat the Serb List. Out of 12,000 voters who went to the polls, the true Albanian list won 22.87%, because Albanians had occupied many Serbian houses in the Gračanica municipality, while Rašić’s list won 12.64%. The Serb List, with 64%, won the elections in the first round. I am especially proud of the victory in Gracanica, because we know how hard it was to achieve it,” Vucic said.

He added that the Serb List won convincingly in North Mitrovica, Zubin Potok, Zvecan, and Leposavić, with between 69% and 80% of the votes.

According to him, in Partes the Serb List won 89.93% of the Serbian votes, in Ranilug 71%, and in Leposavic 74%, where there were also two other lists, one of which, he said, was “purely a foreign agency.”

In Zvecan, the Serb List, according to Vucic, won 90% of the Serbian votes, and in Strpce 79%.

“I am proud, and this victory is far greater than a little kicking of the ball. Let them keep kicking the ball in the future — we will keep winning in more important fields. This was a much more significant victory, and that is why I am happy,” the president said.

Vucic pointed out that Albin Kurti lost everywhere except in Gnjilane.

“I want to congratulate the Serbian people, everyone who fought and worked… the people in the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, all those who helped this effort and understood how hard it was. Thank you to all of Serbia — after a painful defeat last night, today we achieved a more important victory,” Vucic stated.

He emphasized that the Serb List was openly the list supported by Serbia.

When asked whether, judging by the results, the Serbs in Kosovo had listened to him and voted for the Serb List, Vucic replied that it was not him they had listened to, because they knew he was “just one of them, always there for them when things are hard,” but that they had listened to their Serbia — the only country they love and believe in.

“Tonight, those who hold the tricolor flag rejoice. I am proud of our heroic people in Kosovo and Metohija, who preserve the Serbian name and identity,” the president reiterated.

He also pointed out that the voter turnout data revealed one of Pristina’s manipulations.

“They lied about the number of voters. They claim there are about two million, but not even 800,000 voted. That says everything — how they lie about their numbers,” Vucic remarked.
