Baraliu: The attack on the Ibar–Lepenac canal was directed primarily against the citizens

University professor Mazllum Baraliu told Kosovo Online that the attack on the Ibar–Lepenac canal was directed primarily against the citizens, because it concerns water as a basic necessity, and that the case is now entirely under the jurisdiction of the institutions.

"It is obvious that in this process there are suspects and that it was an attack to the detriment of all citizens because it concerns basic needs, water. It is clear that there are suspicions and every country could interpret such a situation in different ways, but that is a question for the institutions," he said.

He added that the attack was harmful and unacceptable, assessing that it was directed primarily against the citizens.

"There are possible perpetrators who cannot be considered guilty until the judicial process is completed, but they are suspects and they are people whom the prosecutors have assessed as being in some way involved in this attack, which is truly harmful and unacceptable by any criterion, because it concerns primarily the citizens, and not only the country or the institutions that were possibly targeted," Baraliu said.

He directed responsibility for the attack toward Serbia.

"Belgrade has shown that it knows how to interfere in these matters. We have the case in Banjska, which cannot be justified by any criterion," Baraliu said.
