Bishop Teodosije with Abbott on the statement of Alicia Kearns: This news worsened the security of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Kosovo
Bishop Teodosije of Raska and Prizren spoke today in the Gracanica Monastery with the British ambassador in Pristina, Nicholas Abbott, and expressed his deepest concern regarding the statement of the British parliamentarian Alicia Kearns, who made claims that weapons were illegally brought in through Serbian Orthodox churches in the north of Kosovo.
Bishop Teodosije, as reported by the Eparchy of Raska and Prizren, particularly emphasized that this news, which had since been denied by KFOR, had worsened the security of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Kosovo many times over and that it could seriously complicate the process of de-escalating tensions in the north of Kosovo, as well as the dialogue.
"The bishop reiterated the position that our Church advocated for peace among all citizens of Kosovo and Metohija and that it could not allow any abuse or political manipulation of our churches," the statement said.
Ambassador Abbott expressed concern about the current events in the north of Kosovo, mentioning the important role of the Church in improving relations between communities and emphasizing the urgent need for de-escalation.
