Blinken: Kurti to immediately stop violent actions in the north and focus on dialogue
US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, called on Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti to immediately stop the violent actions in the north and to refocus on the dialogue led by the European Union.
Blinken stated that the US condemned the unilateral actions carried out by the Government of Kosovo in order to enter municipal buildings in the north by force.
"These actions are contrary to the suggestions of the US and the EU. These actions have unnecessarily led to a rise in tensions, undermine our efforts to help normalize relations between Serbia and Kosovo, and will have consequences for US bilateral relations with Kosovo. We call on Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti to take a different course, and all parties to refrain from further actions that will inflame tensions and promote conflict," Blinken said in a statement.
He also used Twitter, where he underlined that the US strongly condemned the actions of the Government of Kosovo.
“We strongly condemn the actions by the Government of Kosovo that are escalating tensions in the north and increasing instability. We call on Prime Minister Albin Kurti to immediately halt these violent measures and refocus on the EU-facilitated Dialogue,“ Blinken said on Twitter.
