Brankovic: Opportunity for Vucic to repeat his arguments against Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe in Paris
Diplomat and former Serbian ambassador to the United Nations, Branko Brankovic, says for Kosovo Online that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, during his visit to Paris, has no reason to escalate the political situation with France because they have recognized Kosovo, however, it is an opportunity to reiterate Belgrade's arguments against Pristina's entry into the Council of Europe at the highest level.
According to announcements, he says, the focus of the visit will be on economic cooperation, which is very important for Serbia.
"We seek and want to have as many investments as possible because major investments create income. We have no reason to escalate politically with the French, as they have recognized Kosovo. But this is an opportunity to say a lot about the Council of Europe, as well as about Srebrenica. We can say at the highest level what Kosovo's accession to the Council of Europe means. It's not that they don't know this, but we must constantly remind them that they have double standards, and double standards have never brought anything good," Brankovic emphasized.
He points out that Western countries understand everything Serbia says, but as long as current world politics remain as they are, they will stick to their positions.
"You see, for example, with Ukraine, they are making enormous mistakes by arming that country. They must stick to certain positions because when things around Ukraine start to unravel, all possible European governments and those in power will have to fall 'like pears,' and they don't want to lose power. Essentially, in each country, it's a struggle for power, not so much for the state but for staying in power," Brankovic said.
