Brnabic with the head of UNMIK Ziadeh: We are concerned about the safety of Serbs in Kosovo

The Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, met today with the head of UNMIK, Caroline Ziadeh, with whom she discussed the UN Secretary General's report on the work of UNMIK on the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, the position of the Serbs and the non-Albanian population, as well as the necessity of implementing the Brussels Agreement.

As stated in the Government announcement, Brnabic stressed that she was very concerned about the safety of Serbs in Kosovo, who are constantly exposed to Pristina's provocations.

Brnabic emphasizes that Serbian cemeteries and churches are continuously being destroyed, which sends a clear message that Serbs are not welcome in Kosovo.

When it comes to the Brussels Agreement, the Prime Minister reminded that this document had not been implemented by Pristina for ten years. She emphasized that the full implementation of the Brussels Agreement and the establishment of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities were necessary, which would enable Serbs to feel safer.

Brnabic, speaking about the "Open Balkan" initiative, emphasized that this format was an excellent opportunity to connect the entire region in order to achieve economic prosperity, as well as a faster flow of people and goods.

Ziadeh said that the goal was to preserve peace and stability in Kosovo, and she especially praised the "Open Balkan" initiative as an opportunity for better economic integration of the region.

The UN Secretary General's report on the work of UNMIK on the situation in Kosovo will be presented at the session of the UN Security Council on April 27, 2023.
