Canaj: Kosovo will not have a chance for CoE membership if it does not submit draft statute of the CSM to the court

Blerim Canaj, a professor of political history in Pristina, assesses that Kosovo's main goals for 2025 will be membership in the Council of Europe and achieving candidate status for European Union membership.

Regarding the Council of Europe, he says Kosovo will apparently have to send the draft statute of the Community of Serb Municipalities to the Constitutional Court for review in order to become a member of the organization.

“We all know that without this, it won’t have much of a chance,” Canaj stated for Kosovo Online.

When it comes to EU membership, he says the road will be difficult and long.

“Kosovo has applied for EU membership, but it will be a long journey. We still have a lot of things to complete,” Canaj emphasizes.

The key to joining the European Union, according to him, is in Kosovo's hands.

“Every key is with us, we just need to know when and how to use it,” he points out.
