The Central Election Commission announced that 23 polling centers closed on time at 7 PM, and in the referendum on the removal of mayors in four northern municipalities, a total of 253 voters participated, representing 0.54% of eligible citizens.

In North Mitrovica, 111 people voted (0.59%), in Zvecan none (0%), in Leposavic 124 (0.91%), and in Zubin Potok 18 (0.26%).

A total of 46,556 citizens were eligible to vote in the referendum for the removal of mayors of the four northern municipalities in Kosovo.

In Leposavic, 13,674 people had the right to vote, and in North Mitrovica, 18,796.

Zubin Potok had 6,877 eligible voters, and Zvecan had 7,209 voters.

A referendum to recall the mayors of Albanian nationality, elected last year with a few percent of votes, was organized today in the four northern municipalities of Kosovo. The Serbian parties in Kosovo called for a boycott.

For the referendum to succeed, it is necessary that more than 50% plus one of the registered voters participate.

Kresnik Radonjici, the President of the Central Election Commission, stated at a press conference that the citizens' initiative to remove the mayors of the four northern municipalities had failed.

"Based on the voter turnout data in this process, we inform you that the majority of registered voters did not vote as prescribed by Article 72 of the Law on Local Self-Government in the Republic of Kosovo, so the required 50% was not achieved, therefore we conclude that the civic initiative to remove the mayors of Leposavic, Zubin Potok, Zvecan, and North Mitrovica has failed," Radonjici said.

He highlighted that the CEC, despite challenges, was fully committed and had taken all necessary steps to organize the voting process in these municipalities, "proving its strong dedication to enabling citizens to exercise their democratic and legal rights."

"Finally, I want to thank all my staff, other institutional actors, and observers who helped the CEC organize this process. We also express our gratitude for the work of the media and continuous reporting from the field," Radonjici said.

In last year's mayoral elections in the north, when Albanian mayors were elected, 1,532 voters participated. In the municipality of Leposavic, a total of 136 citizens voted, in Zubin Potok a total of 377, in Zvecan 193, and in North Mitrovica 826.
