Decision to ban entry of trucks with Serbian goods into Kosovo still in effect

The Government of Kosovo made a decision almost a month ago to ban the entry of goods originating from Serbia into Kosovo in response to the arrest of three Kosovo border police officers who were found on the territory of central Serbia. This decision is still being implemented, even though the three police officers have been released pending trial, Indeks Online reports.

"The Kosovo Customs continues to implement the government's decision to ban the import of goods produced in Serbia," Customs spokesperson Adriatik Stavileci stated and specified that they are obligated to act in accordance with the government's decisions.

As he emphasized, Customs is enforcing this decision at border crossings, in cooperation with the police.

He explained that the initial government decision referred to the ban on the entry of trucks with Serbian license plates into Kosovo, but the decision was later changed to allow the entry of trucks with Serbian license plates, while the ban on the import of Serbian products remains in effect.

According to statistics, Serbian goods worth around one million euros were being imported into Kosovo on a daily basis.

The decision to block Serbian goods started to be implemented on June 14 and is still in effect despite calls from the international community, businessmen, and chambers of commerce of Serbia and Kosovo to withdraw it.
