Djuric: Congresswoman Tenney's proposal is the most rational legislative attempt to help reconciliation in the Balkans
Ambassador of Serbia to the United States, Marko Djuric, stated that the proposed law in support of the Brussels Agreement, introduced by Congresswoman Claudia Tenney a few days ago, was the most significant and rational legislative attempt to help reconciliation and normalization of relations in the Balkans in more than a decade.
"It is equally beneficial for all parties involved. Those who oppose the part that calls for an end to the violation of the human rights of the Serbs in Kosovo should better inform themselves and carefully consider their values", Djuric noted on the "X" platform.
On December 19, Tenney proposed a bill that would prohibit any further US assistance to Kosovo until specific conditions outlined in the Brussels Agreement of 2013 are implemented.
"While we witness the ongoing oppression and discrimination of Kosovo Serbs due to the failure to implement key provisions of the 2013 Brussels Agreement, it is imperative for the US to take a stand for democracy, peace, and stability in the region", Tenney stated.
She added that supporting the Brussels Agreement of 2013 sent a clear message that US assistance should be in line with the principles of the 2013 agreement and that there was a firm commitment against actions undermining the rights and well-being of Kosovo Serbs.
"This bill reflects our commitment to fostering peace and holding Prime Minister Albin Kurti and the Kosovo Government accountable", Tenney noted.
