The US Congresswoman Claudia Tenney, Chair of the Serbian Caucus, has officially introduced an act proposing the suspension of all aid to Kosovo until obligations are fulfilled, specifically the withdrawal of forces from the north, the cessation of the persecution of the Serbs, and the establishment of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities.

In a statement, Tenney emphasized that Kosovo was not adhering to the Brussels Agreement of 2013, thereby violating international norms and creating tensions in the Balkans.

The proposed act, she highlighted, would prohibit any further assistance from the United States to Kosovo until certain conditions specified in the Brussels Agreement of 2013 were implemented.

Tenney recalled that the European Union had mediated the Brussels Agreement in 2013 between Serbia and Kosovo to ease tensions between the two sides, however, Kosovo had not fulfilled many of its key obligations under the agreement, such as forming the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities and establishing multi-ethnic police forces.

Additionally, Kosovo has denied equal rights to Kosovo Serbs, she pointed out.

"The failure of Kosovo to fulfill this agreement violates international norms and creates tensions and instability in the Balkans", the congresswoman stated.

Therefore, she believes that the US must advocate for democracy, peace, and stability in the region.

"As we witness the ongoing oppression and discrimination against Kosovo Serbs due to the failure to implement key provisions of the 2013 Brussels Agreement, it is imperative that the United States takes a stand for democracy, peace, and stability in the region. The BACKING of the 2013 Brussels Agreement Act sends the clear message that our assistance should align with the principles of the 2013 agreement, and we stand firmly against actions that undermine the rights and well-being of Kosovo Serbs. This legislation reflects our commitment to fostering peace and holding Prime Minister Albin Kurti and the Kosovan Government accountable”, Congresswoman Tenney noted.
