Djuric: Kurti ignored the US and the EU and accused Borrell of lying
The Ambassador of Serbia to the USA Marko Djuric reminded of the fact that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti in recent days ignored "Washington's requests to postpone the implementation of his unilateral decisions on license plates and verbally attacked EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell."
Djuric wrote on Twitter: "For the record and history, in recent days, Albin Kurti has ignored the repeated requests from the top levels of the US government to postpone the implementation of his unilateral decisions on license plates."
"Kurti refused the latest EU proposal aimed at de-escalation of tensions. He verbally attacked EUHR Josep Borrell and accused him of lying. Against all advice, he sent reinforced special police units to illegal new bases in the north of Kosovo. He repeatedly publicly stated he never intended to implement the Brussels agreement, the Washington principles, or to form the Community of Serb majority municipalities - all previously signed by the Kosovo government," Djuric wrote.
The Ambassador of Serbia then reminded what President Aleksandar Vucic had done.
"Vucic accepted the EU proposal on license plates, and he is committed to accepting KS license plates. He announced a unilateral stop on issuing Serbian license plates in the north of Kosovo and called for de-escalation and continued deployment of KFOR/NATO and EULEX. He called on the citizens of both parties to stay calm. He asked for peace and implementation of all existing agreements - at his own political expense. Draw your own conclusions on both why and who is destabilizing the Balkans," Djuric concluded.
