Djuric: A major week for Serbia in Washington
Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric announced that he will sign a series of agreements with NASA in Washington tomorrow, enabling Serbia to join the Artemis space program.
“I have some good news from Washington. Tomorrow, we will make history for Serbian science. Serbia will join the Artemis space program by signing a series of agreements with NASA,” Djuric told reporters.
He said the agreements would open the door wide for Serbian scientists, companies, and institutions to participate in one of the world's most advanced space programs.
Djuric emphasized that, although Serbia is not a nation that actively participates in space exploration and does not have its own national space program, it is a nation that has produced outstanding figures such as Nikola Tesla, Milutin Milanković, and David Vujic, who contributed to the Apollo missions that led to the Moon landing.
“Serbia has historic ties to space exploration. The agreements we will sign will open the door for our institutions, research institutes, and companies to participate in space exploration. Serbia is committed to the peaceful exploration of outer space, in full respect of international law. This carries symbolic value, but it also has political significance because it comes within the framework of the Strategic Dialogue with the United States, which represents a historic step forward in relations between Serbia and America,” the Serbian foreign minister explained.
He added that the delegation he is leading in Washington is highly satisfied, noting that everyone fully understands the importance of Serbia joining the group of countries with which the United States maintains partnership-based and friendly relations.
Djuric also announced that he will participate tomorrow in the Conference on Political Violence, hosted by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
“According to the information available to me, ministers from around 60 countries will attend. However, Serbia is the country that will continue its program on Friday with the launch of the Strategic Dialogue with the United States. This is a major week for Serbia here in Washington,” Foreign Minister Djuric said.
