Djuric meets with Hoxha: Serbia committed to advancing relations with Albania based on mutual respect
Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Djuric met in Antalya with Albania’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha, reaffirming Serbia’s commitment to continuously improving relations with Albania based on mutual respect. He emphasized that strengthening political dialogue is of key importance for the stability and development of the entire region, the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
Speaking about relations between the two countries in areas of mutual interest, Djuric particularly underscored the importance of coordination in the EU integration process.
The Serbian minister also expressed satisfaction that Albania has officially confirmed its participation in the Specialized Exhibition Expo 2027 Belgrade, where it will have the opportunity to showcase its potential.
Welcoming his first meeting with the Albanian foreign minister since taking office, Djuric extended congratulations on Hoxha’s appointment and invited him to visit Serbia.
Following the meeting, Albania’s Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha stated on the social network X that the discussion with
Minister Djuric focused on enhancing bilateral relations through constructive dialogue and cooperation, alongside further strengthening economic and trade ties, recognizing their importance for fostering sustainable development and regional stability.
He expressed gratitude for Serbia’s willingness to respond positively to Albania’s request to open a Consulate General in Bujanovac.
“We also noted our fundamentally different positions regarding Republic of Kosovo. I reiterated Albania’s clear and consistent position on its key importance, as well as our full support for the EU-facilitated dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia as the only sustainable path toward full normalization of relations and eventual mutual recognition, which would contribute to lasting peace and stability in the region,” Hoxha wrote.
He added that he emphasized the imperative of preserving, developing, and strengthening regional cooperation as the most reliable path toward a shared future, while avoiding unjustified and unnecessary rhetoric.
“Albania is committed to investing in the clarity of its positions and the consistency of its foreign policy, as well as in people-to-people contacts and in nurturing younger generations with a strong European mindset,” Hoxha wrote on X.
