Foreign Minister Marko Djuric stated that opening a strategic dialogue with the United States would be a "fantastic opportunity for Serbia," leading to a significant enhancement in the quality and nature of relations between the two countries. He added that the dialogue would not merely involve a series of meetings but also foster cooperation that would positively impact Serbia’s international standing, Euronews reports.

"Considering that we are at the end of one administration’s term and the beginning of a new one, we view the opening of a strategic dialogue in Belgrade as a fantastic opportunity to strengthen ties with President Trump and his team, and as a prelude to a potential visit by President Trump to Belgrade in the near future, which we would very much welcome. Additionally, it is a great chance to work with the Trump administration, which we believe will restore America's rightful place in Serbian eyes and the broader international community. This could be an excellent overture," Djuric said.

He emphasized that opening a strategic dialogue with the US would not undermine Serbia’s relationships with its traditional friends and partners.

"At the same time, I want to make it clear that the opening of this strategic dialogue would not come at the expense of Serbia’s relations with its traditional friends and partners," Djuric stressed.

The US and Serbia are set to initiate a strategic dialogue, which is expected to be officially announced this weekend during the visit of US Deputy Secretary of State Richard Verma to Belgrade, as Euronews learns from diplomatic sources.
