Following the statement by Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani that the Washington Agreement of September 2020 had been implemented and that U.S. President Donald Trump is “a man who gets things done,” Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric pointed out that it was actually Pristina that failed to respect the spirit of that agreement and continues to reject Trump’s approach to building peace through economic cooperation.

“It is certainly true that President Donald Trump achieved something significant with the Washington Agreement in 2020. Serbia welcomed his vision — stability through trade and economic growth. Unfortunately, Pristina has failed to respect the spirit of that agreement. It refuses to accept Trump’s approach to peacebuilding through economic cooperation. Worse still, Vjosa Osmani has chosen to manipulate President Trump’s words and invent accusations against Serbia,” Djuric wrote on the social media platform X.

He emphasized that manipulation and fabrications seem to be the only way Osmani and Pristina can attract attention in Washington today.

“Fortunately, our American friends know the truth. Serbia remains committed to advancing our many shared interests with the United States — both in the Balkans and globally, including in places like the Middle East,” Djuric stated.

He added that President Trump’s vision is also Serbia’s vision, as it is the key to resolving conflicts in the region.

“Serbia strives for peace through increased trade, economic growth, and regional cooperation. We hope President Trump will be able to persuade other actors in the Balkans to adopt this vision — because it is the key to overcoming the challenges in the region,” Djuric concluded.
