Djuric: Serbia makes a key contribution to regional stability
Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric stated today that the Antalya Diplomacy Forum was an opportunity to send the message that Serbia is a country making a key contribution to stabilizing the situation in the region, easing tensions, and resolving problems.
“It was very important for us to convey the message that Serbia is strong and stable, especially in light of recent developments over the past few months, and that it is open for business,” Djuric told reporters in Antalya.
He emphasized that Serbia’s goal is not to win debates, but to solve problems by taking a constructive approach to all pressing regional issues.
“This was important to highlight because there are always those who would like to label Serbia or its leadership as a supposedly destabilizing force in the region,” said Djuric.
He added that it is in Serbia’s vital interest to have excellent relations with everyone in the region and that additional efforts will be made in the coming months to make those relations and the overall environment even more friendly, regardless of differing views on recent or more distant historical events.
Djuric underlined that participation in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum was also an opportunity for a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the event, confirming Serbia’s commitment to political cooperation in many parts of the world.
Over the past two days, Djuric met with ministers from the United Kingdom, Germany, European officials, the OSCE Secretary General, regional colleagues, as well as foreign ministers from African countries and the Venezuelan foreign minister.
“So we continue to nurture our traditional partnerships, and that shows you that Serbia’s foreign policy, on a global scale, is indeed very balanced,” Djuric explained.
