Drecun: I am afraid that there will be no de-escalation in Kosovo; Kurti is not changing his behavior

The President of the Parliamentary Committee for Kosovo and Metohija, Milovan Drecun, pointed out that he fears that due to the behavior of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, which, he said, had become established, there would be no solution to de-escalate the situation in the north of Kosovo, Pink reports.

"They are realizing some of their goals step by step, and the ultimate goal is to make it impossible for the Serbs to survive there and to carry out ethnic cleansing," Drecun said.

He added that Kurti would certainly not implement the CSM.

"The fact that they calmed down the situation at the moment does not mean that there will be no tension. He can always accuse and arrest a Serb without grounds, all with the aim of intimidation," Drecun said.

He pointed out that, when it came to de-escalation, Pristina was already avoiding holding new elections in the north of Kosovo.

"They are not working on the CSM, the construction of numerous buildings is being suspended; they are making decisions for the bridge on the Ibar River and the like. False indictments are being filed; the ground is being prepared for further escalation," Drecun said.

He emphasized that a political maneuver had been made.

"They allegedly withdrew some police officers, and then Bislimi asks why the EU did not withdraw the sanctions. I think that a plan should be presented immediately, according to which the agreement will be fulfilled," Drecun said.

According to him, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, has clearly stated the position of Belgrade, and he will not change it, while, he adds, Pristina believes that the issue of Kosovo is a done deal, which, as he states, is absurd.

"They see the CSM in accordance with the constitution of Kosovo, and not according to the Brussels agreement," Drecun concluded.
