Drecun: Kurti is systematically covering up the crimes of the terrorist KLA
Milovan Drecun, the president of the Committee for Defense and Internal Affairs of the Serbian Assembly, believes that the international community has no reason to exert pressure on Serbia regarding the arrest of Tefik Mustafa at the Merdare crossing on charges of war crimes, emphasizing that this case does not involve discrimination or arbitrariness. He mentions that the Kosovo appeal to the international community on this matter is part of a continuous campaign to deny the crimes committed by the former KLA.
Two days ago, at the administrative crossing of Merdare, Serbian police arrested Tefik Mustafa, suspected of war crimes, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo called on the international community to take concrete steps for his immediate release, while accusing Serbia of "arbitrariness, destructive actions, and violation of international human rights conventions."
Drecun, speaking to Kosovo Online, stresses that no one can influence the Serbian judicial system.
"Unlike Priština, we act based on the law, facts, and not on false indictments," he emphasizes.
According to him, if there are indications that the arrested person is a perpetrator of war crimes, they will be treated appropriately, and there is no discrimination or arbitrariness involved.
"What Kurti is doing is actually part of his continuous campaign to deny the crimes committed by the terrorist KLA and systematically cover up those crimes. On one hand, Kurti exerts extremely strong pressure on Belgrade not to prosecute those responsible for the crimes committed by the terrorist KLA, who are available at certain moments, and on the other hand, he exerts strong pressure on the Serbian people, intimidating every Serb living in Kosovo and Metohija and every Serb who had to temporarily leave their home and leave Kosovo and Metohija not to return. He intimidates them by making them the target of possible indictments for war crimes," states Drecun.
He adds that it has turned out that in countless cases, false indictments have been raised against Serbs, that people have been harassed, arrested, and had their lives destroyed only to find out that they are not responsible for any war crimes.
"They have even arrested and prosecuted those who were boys of five, six, seven years old during the conflict in Kosovo and Metohija. Kurti has this dual goal, on one hand, to completely intimidate the Serbs because each of them might think that they will be on a false indictment for war crimes at some point, and on the other hand, he tries to prevent Belgrade from prosecuting those who are responsible for war crimes, were in the ranks of the KLA, despite the fact that we now see how brutal the crimes committed by the KLA were through the trials of Hashim Thaçi," he said.
Regarding the ongoing glorification of former KLA members who are accused of war crimes, Drecun says they are all Kurti's comrades.
"Once a terrorist, always a terrorist. Kurti is a terrorist and he now uses political terrorism as a method of operation, he was a member of the terrorist KLA and he automatically denies the crimes committed by the KLA and exactly wants to twist the facts to portray the Serbian side as the criminal side, and the Albanian side as completely clean and that no crimes were committed by that side," says Drecun.
As he notes, through the trials of Hashim Thaçi and others, one can see the scale of the brutal crimes and ethnic cleansing committed by the KLA.
He adds that Kurti wants to completely change reality, and reality, according to Drecun, is that the terrorist KLA committed horrific war crimes and "conducted and still conducts ethnic cleansing of Kosovo and Metohija from the Serbian people."
"Kurti is a continuation of what the terrorist KLA did in 1998 and 1999 and he is now doing it from political positions. Nothing different can be expected from him, he is the most responsible and the only culprit why there is no progress in solving the issue of missing persons because he misuses this issue, misuses the story of war crimes to exert pressure and intimidate Serbs, to prevent Belgrade from prosecuting former members of the terrorist KLA for the crimes committed and he will continue with this policy," Drecun asserts.
