Embassy of Serbia in the USA is organizing a big "Strengthening the Ties" Conference today
Today, the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Washington is organizing a large Conference of the Serbian Diaspora entitled "Strengthening the Ties", in which the political establishment of the United States of America will also participate.
According to the Embassy's statement, the conference will be held in the prestigious Washington hotel "Conrad", and after more than two decades, several hundred members of the Serbian community in America, representatives of Serbian organizations, prominent individuals, as well as representatives of American political sphere will gather.
The meeting will be opened by the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the USA, Marko Djuric, and the participants will be addressed by Bishop Irinej of East America and by the director of the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, Arnaud Gouillon. An address by the US Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, is also expected.
Among the main speakers will be the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the US, Bojan Vujic, the head of the Representation of the Republic of Srpska in Washington, Obrad Kesic, as well as the Consul General of the Republic of Serbia in Chicago, Damjan Jovic.
After the opening statements, Ambassador Djuric and Gouillon will present in a solemn ceremony the "Mother Serbia" award to David Vujic, one of the seven Serbs who were part of the famous "Apollo" mission within the NASA space program.
"This award is given for exceptional contribution, results, and merits achieved in the field of relations between the home country and the diaspora, in developing and strengthening mutual ties, improving economic cooperation, humanitarian and other activities that contribute to the home country and the diaspora," the statement said.
It is added that the Conference will include three panels on the topic of strengthening the ties between the diaspora and Serbia in the fields of culture and education, economy and philanthropy, at which prominent Serbs who live and work in America will speak and who, through personal engagement, as well as activities within the organizations, institutions, and companies they belong to, have been contributing to the creation of a positive image of Serbia on American territory for years.
In a special part of the meeting, there will be presentations of the work of the Halyard Mission Foundation, followed by the organization "Point of Return" and the American-Serbian Association for Prosperity, and a special video message will be broadcast, which, on the occasion of the Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia, was sent to the participants of the Conference by Ambassador Richard Grenell, former Acting Director of the US National Intelligence Service
The gathering of the Serbian diaspora will be crowned with an evening gala reception hosted by Ambassador Djuric in the new building of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Washington.
