EU: Serbian institutions providing health, education and social services in Kosovo should not be shut down
No healthcare or educational institution supported by Serbia, nor any other structure in Kosovo receiving Serbian support to provide essential social services, should be closed, the EU told Kosovo Online.
Commenting on yesterday’s actions by the Kosovo Police, the EU stated that the status of Serbian systems in Kosovo should be resolved through dialogue.
“We have taken note that the Kosovo Police conducted new operations yesterday (23 March) against structures supported by Serbia. We are awaiting additional details to establish the facts. As previously stated, the status of these structures and the services supported by Serbia is to be addressed through dialogue and the normalization of relations,” the EU spokesperson for Kosovo said in a statement to Kosovo Online.
To recall, the Kosovo Police yesterday raided the offices of the new Public Utility Company in Strpce, followed by operations in the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund (PIO) and the National Employment Service in Leposavic.
