European Federation of Journalists accuses Kurti and Self-Determination of intimidating journalists

The Secretary General of the European Federation of Journalists, Ricardo Gutiérrez, strongly condemned what he described as a “vile campaign” by members of the Self-Determination Movement against Kosovar journalists, accusing Prime Minister Albin Kurti of being complicit in attacks that, in his words, resemble the behavior of the worst authoritarian regimes.

In a Facebook post, Gutiérrez stated that the treatment of journalists by the authorities in Kosovo is unacceptable and described it as a “disgusting campaign” by members of Self-Determination, stressing that Prime Minister Albin Kurti is “an accomplice in these shameful acts.”

“Attacking journalists ad hominem is an attempt to prevent them from doing their job and from continuing to serve the public’s right to be informed,” Gutiérrez wrote.

He warned that such methods are “worthy of the worst authoritarian regimes” and added that the European Federation of Journalists will report this behavior to the Council of Europe, the European Union, and the Party of European Socialists.

“Shame on the Self-Determination Movement and Albin Kurti,” Gutiérrez concluded.
