The family of Xhafer Deva sued Ambassador Rohde for defamation before the court in Berlin
Xhafer Deva's descendant, Valdet Deva, announced that today "he will file a lawsuit against the German ambassador to Kosovo, Jorn Rohde, to the court in Berlin for, as he stated, serious defamation of the character and deeds of Xhafer Deva".
Valdet Deva posted this on Facebook, pointing out that German ambassador Rohde had made false accusations.
"Today, a lawsuit was filed against the German ambassador in Pristina, Jorn Rohde, for serious defamation of the character of Xhafer Deva. The lawsuit was filed in the Berlin court in Germany. The ambassador continued with false and baseless accusations against Xhafer Deva, telling us how to handle our internal affairs. It's a shame that neither Ambassador Rohde nor his colleagues in Serbia reacted so strongly when Draza Mihajlovic or Slobodan Milosevic were celebrated and commemorated, to whom memorials have been erected in many places in Serbia! It is a great disgrace for our government that they did not manage to show the world that Albanians protect the truth and the most eminent figures of our national history by not saying a single word about these baseless accusations," Valdet Deva said.
Deva indicated that the witnesses in this lawsuit would be historian Yusuf Buxhovi and former MP Faton Bislimi.
"It should be noted that we as a people will always be in close friendship with the German state and we do not forget the help that was given to us when we needed it the most, but the German ambassador Rohde clearly showed that by serving someone else, and not the generous German state and people," he added.
Let us remind you that the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Kosovo and the Office of the European Union (EU) suspended the restoration work on Xhafer Deva in South Mitrovica because he was a collaborator of Nazi Germany.
"Do not distort the truth about the Holocaust or the war crimes committed by the Nazis and local collaborators," Rohde wrote on his Twitter account.
