In Leposavic, around noon today, a sign saying “Kosovo" was placed on the building of the Social Welfare Center, as well as on the entrance doors of the Municipality building. Flags of Serbia and the United Nations were removed from the flagpoles in front of the municipal building.
The flag of the municipality of Leposavic was also taken down from the flagpole.
To recall, on Monday, a petition for the dismissal of the mayor, Lulzim Hetemi, was submitted.
The collection of signatures by the citizens of Leposavic for the mayor's dismissal began on January 17 and concluded on January 20, with more than 20% of the voters in this municipality providing their signatures.
Kosovo Online revealed on December 24th last year that in Leposavic, officials from the current municipal administration of Mayor Hetemi entered the UNMIK office and removed the UNMIK sign, even though, according to the
Conventions on the Privileges and Immunities of the United Nations adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on February 13, 1946, in New York, UN premises are inviolable.
Now, in front of the municipal building, the flag of the United Nations has also been removed.
