Garic: Serbs in Kosovo are protected by a strong, not an isolated and weak Serbia
The formation of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities is currently an absolute priority for Serbia in order to ensure the protection and future of Serbs in Kosovo, as well as to see if agreements are made to be honored, Milos Garic, the editor of the Kosovo Online portal, said on Pink TV.
"Whoever carefully listened to the President of Serbia last night could clearly understand what the country is facing in defending its key interests, that it has no intention of giving up on them, and which strategy is the wisest and most useful for that purpose at this time," Garic pointed out.
He says that during the previous period, it was seen what Albin Kurti was ready for and what they allowed him to do.
"That is why we must look after our people to enable them to live and be safe in Kosovo and Metohija. That is why it's such a struggle for Pristina to finally fulfill its obligation. We see Pristina's intense resistance to the CSM, and Serbia's consistent effort to establish it," Garic added.
According to him, a possible decision by Belgrade to stop talks on the normalization of relations with Pristina would result in enmity with the EU and Washington and have a negative impact on Serbia's perspective, which would then face isolation, stopping economic growth, and there would be no stories such as the Nis-Subotica high-speed railway.
"That would directly benefit Serbia's enemies. That is why it is crystal clear why Serbia must pursue this policy. This is our chance for the future, and we should adhere to policies that bring results. How else can Serbia protect the Serbian people in Kosovo? Isolated and weak Serbia would not be able to do that. Only a strong country that does not stop strengthening and developing can do so," Garic stressed.
He points out that it is clear that there are two parallel realities in Kosovo, one Albanian and one Serbian.
"Miroslav Lajcak also spoke about this recently. There are two realities in Kosovo. Let's build the Serbian reality then, to provide the opportunity for Serbs to live in Kosovo and Metohija, without them having to suffer terror or persecution, and without having to move out. That's why they need a strong Serbia on which they can rely, and that's why they need the CSM. The Serbs would not be able to survive for much longer if they remained exposed to Pristina's terror," Garic emphasized.
