German Foreign Ministry: Lajcak's Draft of the CSM has full support of Europe and the Quint
The German Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the draft of the Community of Serb Municipalities (CSM) by the EU Special Envoy Miroslav Lajcak has been carefully prepared by European experts and lawyers, based on the best European practices. It was stated that this draft is inspired by previously proposed drafts, including the FES draft, Gazeta Express reports.
In the statement, the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the urgent need for decisive steps towards the establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities and further progress in the dialogue supported by the EU.
"The draft presented by the Special Representative for Dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, was carefully prepared with the help of European lawyers and experts, based on the best existing practices in Europe. It is also inspired by previous proposals for the Association, including the FES draft presented to the public in 2022. It takes into account the constitutional and legal framework of Kosovo. The special representative's draft has full support from Europe and Germany's transatlantic partners—France, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the USA (the Quint)," said the spokesperson for the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The statement to Gazeta Express from Berlin noted that advancing the process based on the proposals made by the Quint would demonstrate Kosovo's commitment to minority rights, thereby strengthening Kosovo and reviving the EU-led dialogue.
"This would provide broad support for Kosovo's application for membership in the Council of Europe. The German government will continue to support Kosovo in its aspirations to become a member of the Council of Europe," concluded the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
