Grenell: It is not enough to say “de-escalation”, American leadership is needed

The former US envoy for dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Richard Grenell, pointed out that after the release of Dejan Pantic to house arrest, all arrested Serbs should be released, special units should withdraw from the north, and that the Government of Serbia should insist on removing the barricades.

Grenell said on Twitter that American leadership was necessary.

"Simply saying de-escalate" is not enough, it is too bland. We need American leadership to be specific! Now that Pantic has been transferred to house arrest, all the arrested Serbs who protested peacefully should be released, the special forces in the north should respect Article 9 of the Brussels Agreement and at the same time the Government of Serbia should demand the removal of the barricades," Grenell said.
