The Department of Justice Coordinator from the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Perparim Gruda, blamed Prime Minister Albin Kurti for the deteriorating situation in northern Kosovo, Koha reports.

Gruda said that another postponement of the elections would represent a great defeat for Kosovo and a 20-year setback.

"Postponing the elections would mean that the north is effectively out of the control of the Kosovo institutions. Someone must be held accountable for the way the situation in the north was brought to that level of deterioration," Gruda said.

Gruda stated that due to the "adventure" of Kurti's government in the north, Kosovo had reached a position where elections could not be held.

"Police officers in the north face difficult working conditions because of political adventure. If the elections are not held, a state of emergency must be declared. They cannot be postponed indefinitely," he said.

Gruda added that the mass resignations of Serbs in the north had happened because of Kurti's actions.

"The situation has degraded and is the product of the prime minister's work," he said.
