Haziri: The Government should take the message of the head of NATO seriously

LDK Vice President Lutfi Haziri said that the Government of Kosovo should take seriously the message of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who asked the Kosovo authorities to consult with the Alliance before taking any action that could threaten security in the north, ABC News reports.

Haziri points out that steps have been taken in relation to the recent crisis in the north, which has also led to an increase in KFOR's powers.

"KFOR's mandate is limited and it is approaching its final mission. Recent crises in four municipalities have also increased the number of KFOR forces, and the increase in the number of soldiers is not good news for Kosovo," Haziri emphasized.

Commenting on the meeting between Kurti and Vucic, which is expected on September 14, Haziri points out that the focus of the conversation should not only be the de-escalation of the situation in the north but also the easing of measures imposed by the international community, which have affected the citizens of Kosovo.

"As in the first case, when the EU announced punitive measures for parties that do not show constructiveness in the negotiations, Kosovo and its Prime Minister kept them secret and did not inform the citizens of Kosovo about the measures taken, while Kosovo's non-participation in the funds began to show the first effects. The measures have an impact on the lives of the citizens of Kosovo. The meeting on September 14 still has a hidden agenda, neither the Prime Minister nor the international mediators have announced what will be the topic to be discussed," he added.

Haziri believes that the failure of the meeting will expand the list of punitive measures.
