Member of the Presidency of the Self-Determination Movement, Elvis Hoxha, criticized the US envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, in an interview with "Euronews Albania", accusing him of behaving "as if he represents 700 million inhabitants of the Euro-Atlantic community, of whom very few people know him".

"Geopolitics is a kind of autocracy in globalization. We are gradually moving towards names that lead, but which, in fact, do not have to be publicly recognized and confirmed. Take, for example, Gabriel Escobar, who at one point said, '700 million Europeans are not very interested in a million and a half in Kosovo'. He talks about 1.5 million in Kosovo, and the fact that there are 1.9 million of us shows that 400,000 people, for a bureaucrat interested in 700 million, are nothing", he said.

However, Gabriel Escobar said something different to Voice of America:

"For me, Kosovo needs to be defined not by Serbia but by its values, by relations not with six million inhabitants of Serbia, but with 700 million inhabitants of the Euro-Atlantic community. Yet, every time we talk to the Prime Minister and his deputy, they only want to talk about Serbia".

Hoxha, however, questioned whether Escobar was truly a representative of the Euro-Atlantic community.

"What is this man telling us? This man addresses us with the authority of someone chosen by 700 million Europeans and the authority of someone who can view 1,900,000 people as flies", he added.

He also adds that if a survey is conducted today in the West among those 700 million people, "probably only 0.0001 percent working in foreign affairs departments know who Escobar is".

"Europeans have no idea who Escobar is, and he is interested in the fate of Europeans, equating them with the fate of Kosovo Albanians", Hoxha stated.

He even accused Escobar of wanting to erase American history.

"On the other hand, what did Escobar erase with this phrase? The entire American history of justice, revolution, the civil war, liberation from England, because with one phrase, he remembers to silence a small people, the people of Kosovo, but to silence the people of Kosovo, he must silence the subjects. The themes of the people of Kosovo, no matter how small, are universal: freedom, sovereignty, self-determination, building democracy, fair elections", Hoxha said.
