Hill: Escobar is in Brussels; very important for the US that the CSM is implemented ASAP

Ambassador of the United States of America Christopher Hill said today, ahead of the meeting of representatives of Belgrade and Pristina in Brussels, that it was another in a series of important meetings, but that he could not say that he expected immediate results.

Hill stated in Kragujevac that the European Union was working hard to find a solution that benefits everyone.

"The Brussels process takes a long time and certainly cannot satisfy those who demand a satisfying solution right away," Hill added.

He believes that progress is necessary because many years have gone with no concrete agreements.

"I must say that from the standpoint of the United States of America, it is very important to implement and establish the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities as soon as possible," the American ambassador pointed out.

He said that the US and the EU cooperate closely and that the US representative is participating in the dialogue in Brussels today.

"Our representative Gabriel Escobar is in Brussels today, so we are in that process. I want to emphasize that the United States and the European Union are working closely together on this issue and are dedicated to doing so. I would also say that performance over the last year has been particularly closely related to Russia's aggression in Ukraine," Hill explained.

He emphasized last week's UN vote, in which the overwhelming majority of participants supported the decision to call on Russia to withdraw and stop its terrible aggression against its neighbor.

"In this vote, Serbia was united with the others who supported it, so a very clear signal was sent to Russia that it should stop its aggression," Hill said.

He stated that only six countries on the entire planet supported Russia, and the vast majority of 141 countries, including the United States and Serbia, called for Russia to cease hostilities, which showed the balance of power among all countries, as he says, and the close cooperation of the vast majority of states in this single position.
