Hogard: I signed a petition for the return of the memorial plaque to the fallen Serbian soldiers; ambassadors to publicly apologize
Colonel Jacques Hogard, former Commander of the French special forces in Kosovo, stated today for Kosovo Online that he had signed a petition for the return of the memorial plaque to the fallen Serbian soldiers during the Balkan Wars and World War I at the military Orthodox cemetery in Pristina, emphasizing that ambassadors and officials responsible for relocating the monument should publicly apologize for this "shameful act".
Hogard pointed out that he could not believe that diplomats had not understood that moving the monument was an insult to the Serbs.
"I have just signed the petition you sent me and have expanded it. I have left some comments on the website itself. This act is a shame, an indelible shame for those behind it. I cannot believe they did not realize that this is an insult to the brave Serbian soldiers who gave their lives for their homeland and freedom", Hogard said.
He called on those responsible to correct the mistake and ensure that the memorial plaque was returned to its original location.
"These unworthy officials must now publicly seek forgiveness and ensure the perfect restoration of the memorial plaque in its place. These 'diplomats' must now rectify their serious mistake against memory, against honor, and against loyalty", Hogard concluded.
