A petition has been launched for the return of the monument to the fallen Serbian soldiers at the cemetery in Pristina
The Coordinator of the Working Group of the National Convention on the European Union for Chapter 35, Dragisa Mijacic, announced that a petition had been launched for the return of the monument to the fallen Serbian soldiers from 1912-1918 to the military cemetery in Pristina.
He called on citizens via the social network 'X' to support this initiative.
"We have launched a petition for the return of the monument to the fallen Serbian soldiers from 1912-1918 to the military cemetery in Pristina, and we need your support", Mijacic stated.
Mijacic emphasized that the relocation of the memorial plaque for the fallen Serbian soldiers in World War I at the cemetery in Pristina was among the most shameful events in modern French history, highlighting that the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Catherine Colonna, must react.
He added that since 1999, all Serbian monuments in Pristina had been demolished, and the vast majority of Serbian tombstones had been destroyed throughout Kosovo.
"To distance themselves from such necrophobia, the Embassy and Ambassador Guerot must take a stance on this issue and return the monument to its rightful place", Mijacic emphasized.
The embassies of France and Germany in Kosovo previously announced that, at their initiative, the memorial plaque to the fallen Serbian soldiers in the Balkan Wars and World War I had been relocated to the military Orthodox cemetery in Pristina, to be replaced by a new one in memory of all fallen fighters between 1912 and 1918.
In response to Kosovo Online, the Municipality of Pristina stated that they had not received any request for the relocation of the memorial plaque to the fallen Serbian soldiers during the Balkan Wars and World War I at the military Orthodox cemetery in Pristina.
