Hoti: Great Britain, using its influence, can work on new recognitions of Kosovo

Professor of Political Science Afrim Hoti, in response to the statement by the UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron that the country would help secure new recognitions for Kosovo, stated that the diplomatic power of the United Kingdom was significant in countries with a liberal-democratic mindset, which primarily referred, as he added, to "Western countries".

Hoti told Kosovo Online that Great Britain had been and remained a key partner for Kosovo.

"Great Britain has been and remains a key partner on Kosovo's path to statehood. It has contributed to the recognition process of Kosovo. Its diplomatic power is extremely significant in countries with a liberal-democratic mindset, mainly Western countries", Hoti said.

According to him, Great Britain can work on new recognitions of Kosovo in three directions. One of them is influencing Serbia to achieve complete normalization of relations with Kosovo.

"The first one relates to EU countries that have not recognized Kosovo. The second is to influence countries across the globe where that country still has significant influence. The third is to exert its influence on Serbia regarding complete normalization, including mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia", Hoti added.
