Italy takes control of EULEX

Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, said that Italy was taking over the supervision of the EULEX Mission in Kosovo and that results could only be achieved through teamwork, Klan Kosova reports.

"This role has been assigned to Carabinieri General Giovanni Pietro Barbano. It is good news and a pleasure for Italy, because it shows that results are achieved through teamwork," Tajani said.

The media in Italy write that the Italian Carabinieri, as part of KFOR, guard the "most critical" areas in Kosovo, such as North and South Mitrovica.

Rome's efforts, according to the media, are in the context of the European diplomatic mission to encourage dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
