Former Civil Initiative SDP councilor and lawyer Marko Jaksic said at a meeting in Rudare that the Serbian people just wanted to live normally.

"I know that no one understands your and our everyday problems, the systemic discrimination we suffer and the pressures directed towards our emigration from these areas. I know you want us to live normally. You protect our fatherland and the right to live normally. These are evil times, and bad times make even an eagle to hibernate among the chickens. We have a huge problem, and it concerns our survival, the right to exist. It is bigger and more important than each of us individually. That is why this meeting is a meeting of the unity of the Serbian people. Not political options, not the political representatives of all of us. When this nation is this unique and when there are as many of us as there are today, nobody can do anything to it," he said.

Jaksic said that he was one of the many people from Kolasin whose heritage was forcibly and illegally stolen.

"Property is absolutely sacred everywhere, especially in the west, but that obviously does not apply in our case. It was confiscated by Kurti, declaring it to be land of special public importance and interest. And that special interest is no less, no more, than occupation. These are bases for the special police, which is made up of elite members of all their police units and who are armed to the teeth and whose sole aim is to humiliate, frighten and mistreat this people here," he added.

According to him, with the construction of police bases on the seized land, the north has become a kind of reserve where the hunt for Serbs has already begun, Jaksic noted.

"This is evidenced by the arrests of Adzic, Pantic, and all the others in recent days. However, apparently even that is not enough for Kurti and his safari minister Svecla, so they announce the removal of the barricades while killing the Serbs. What they have done is not enough for them, but also because we legitimately express our views, they want to kill us," he added.

He points out that even today the international community is not ready to hear about the problems of the Serbs, and that it did not understand the message after leaving the institutions.

"It doesn't even understand the barricades today, it doesn't understand that they indicate the extremist attitude of Kurti's government and him personally towards the Serbs in Kosovo, especially towards us in the north. But it is full of understanding for Kurti's refusal to return the land to the Decani monastery, to build bases in the north, to confiscate 40 thousand liters of wine from Petrovic from Velika Hoca. It stood by his side and ran to condemn the attack that never happened with a cannon attack on EULEX, forgetting at that moment that the same Kurti used to destroy their jeeps and throw tear gas into the Assembly (Kosovo) and used many violent methods to reach the power he holds today," he said.

All concessions on the part of the Serbian side, he points out, retreats and constructiveness were perceived by the opposite side, not as an extended hand, but as weakness.

"It will turn out that all agreements, instead of improving our position, were in fact a deterioration of all our rights. It is not surprising Kurti's aggressiveness and literal application of his alternative, the program of Self-Determination, which neither we nor the international community read in time. After the ban of vaccinations, referendums, parliamentary elections, after the termination of the process of verification of diplomas of the University in Mitrovica, partial success with the stickers, he apparently got stronger and judged that the moment had come to finally deal with the Serbs in Kosovo, and especially with us in the north, and it seems that he is persistent in that intention," Jaksic said.
