Rakic: The evil that has loomed over us is terrible, there will be no withdrawal of the barricades until our conditions are met
The terror we suffer every day, the secret lists, arrests and mistreatment of Albin Kurti's special forces are the reason for today's gathering. We want to say that we want peace and freedom, but also that we cannot remain silent on injustice, on the beating of our people, to agree to quietly disappear from our country, Goran Rakic, president of the Serb List, said today in Rudare.
"Our people, Serbs, Bosniaks, Goranians, who have been defending their right to exist in these areas for two weeks in the rain and snow, thank you. Thank you for being here every day, thank you for understanding that we were forced to take this step, thank you to you for persevering and saying that there is no surrender," Rakic said.
No matter how much force threatens us, the lives of our children and our survival in these areas are the reason we stay until our demands are met, Rakic added.
"Today, our brothers from all over Kosovo are with us, and when we are united our voice is heard better in Pristina, Brussels and in Berlin and Washington. Our ancestors paved the way for us, everywhere. May our deeds be such that our ancestors would not be ashamed, and the descendants will be proud". Rakic pointed out that "the evil that has loomed over us is terrible".
"The terror we suffer every day, the secret lists, arrests and mistreatment by Kurti's special forces are the reason for today's gathering, where we want to say that we want peace and freedom. Bearing in mind that the international community is bothered by barricades, but they are not bothered by the mistreatment of Serbs, I want to say that we are where we must be, that we cannot remain silent on injustice, on the beating of our people, that we agree to quietly disappear from our land," Rakic said.
The President of the Serb List also said the following.
"Gentlemen, international representatives, I'm sorry that we can't stand still while we are being trampled on and that the tears of our children disturb the idyllic image of a democratic Kosovo. I know you know, but I repeat that the solution to this crisis is in Pristina," said Rakic.
The leader of the Serbian List repeated on this occasion the conditions that must be met in order for the barricades to be removed.
"It is necessary to release Miljan Adzic and Dejan Pantic. You need to withdraw the secret lists for the arrest and killing of Serbs, which refer to participation in citizen protests from September last year until today, and for Kurti to withdraw the police from the north of Kosovo, all units with long guns. Without meeting these conditions, there will be no pulling back of the barricades, because we are tired of waiting for one of us to be next," said Rakic
Rakic called for unity and harmony from the meeting.
"Let us democratically fight for the rights of our citizens because there is no going back from here".
