Jevtic called for a protest on Sunday: A shot at Stefan and Milos is a shot at each of us

Strpce Mayor and the Serb List Vice President Dalibor Jevtic said that yesterday's wounding of two Serbian boys, Stefan Stojanovic (11) and Milos Stojanovic (21), who were shot by a local Albanian in Gotovusa near Strpce, was a shot at every Serb in Kosovo.

On Facebook, Jevtic called for a protest that would be held tomorrow at noon, in front of the House of Culture in Strpce.

"Brothers and sisters, There are no words that could adequately describe all that I feel and sympathize with my fellow citizens after the wounding of Stefan and Milos in Gotovusa. I must first say that in the accident, it is fortunate that Milos and Stefan are well and their condition is not life-threatening. The picture of little Stefan from the infirmary in Strpce is in front of my eyes all day. A shot at him and Milos is a shot at each of us. I spent the day with my fellow citizens in Gotovusa. Christmas Day, which we wanted to spend in the spirit of our Orthodox faith, in peace, and in the circle of our families, we spent protesting against a monstrous act by a person who is a Kosovo security forces member. There are no words of condemnation that would sufficiently condemn the one who shoots children carrying Christmas trees. And we need to talk about the causes of Serbian children's injuries in Gotovusa," Jevtic pointed out.

Jevtic added that Sirinicka Zupa became a political target of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti from the moment he came to power.

"For more than a year, we have been suffering pressure, arrests, and closure of Serbian institutions in various ways. And a year ago, on Christmas morning, long guns awaited us in houses and on the Strpce streets. With his politics of hatred towards Serbs, Kurti opened a "hunt for Serbs". And if we look at the dates of various events, from St. Nicholas 2021 to today, all of those are significant dates for Serbs. So on July 7th, they attacked us to remove public video surveillance cameras. Coincidence? No, not at all. Those cameras were installed precisely to increase our municipality security level even a little bit. So it was not accidental and what happened today was only a confirmation of that fact. As for the roadblocks, which I supported by my presence, it is the result of everything that has happened to us recently. The condition for the roadblocks to be removed was to arrest the attacker who wounded two Serbian young men. After the arrests, the citizens demanded that KFOR increase its presence, as well as that the police itself increase the number of patrols with two main points in Drajkovac and Jazinac. After fulfilling those conditions, the vast majority of citizens agreed to disperse. Does that solve the problem? No, it does not. We are aware of the situation we are in," Jevtic said.

Jevtic added that as long as Kurti was in power in Pristina with the "politics of hatred he carries out towards Serbs", the situation will not change.

It was difficult for him to say in his "condemnation of the incident" that Serbian young men were wounded. It is difficult for him because he cannot accept that Serbs also live in Kosovo. That hypocritical condemnation speaks only of him and his attitude toward the Serbs. On the other hand, those 'Serbs' who used today's situation to draw attention to themselves with lies and talk about how I forced someone to leave the barricades, they also talk about themselves, and on today's big holiday, I will say this - may you be at ease with God, you didn't choose your poor soul, it was given to you, without asking, you took your turn when there were no better ones," Jevtic emphasized.

Jevtic also said that "there will be a day and a time when I will speak about them with all the facts and only the truth, so everyone will know who they are and what they are and what they are doing."

"Our protest against what happened to Stefan and Milos, everything that has been happening to us lately, has not ended. We removed the blockades, but there is still anger in all of us. On Sunday, January 8, the second day of Christmas, we will gather in Strpce in front of the House of Culture at noon. We will send a message uniquely and together that we are fed up with terror and hatred and that we only want peace and to be on our own! Peace of God, Merry Christmas," Jevtic said.
