Jevtic on the dialogue in Brussels: It's good that the dinar is being discussed, but Pristina is pushing Serbs with its decisions

The Mayor of Strpce Municipality, Dalibor Jevtic, commented on the continuation of the dialogue in Brussels, saying that it is good to discuss the issue of using the dinar, but that there are no expectations from Pristina because the "current regime" is doing everything to influence Serbs to leave Kosovo with its decisions.

"It is always good to have a conversation and dialogue on any topic, especially for such an important issue as the question of the dinar, important primarily for the Serbian people in Kosovo, but also generally for all those who receive pensions and other payments in dinars. However, I have no expectations from Pristina in that regard because Pristina and the current regime in Pristina have repeatedly proven and continue to prove that they are doing everything to influence Serbs to leave these areas with their decisions, and they do not give up on that policy," Jevtic told Kosovo Online.

He emphasized that the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, and the Serbian delegation in Brussels are making efforts to solve the dinar issue in the interest of citizens, primarily Serbs, for whom this issue is extremely important.

"I have some expectations from the representatives of the European Union, from Brussels, to finally take some action regarding their position and the guarantees they have given for previous agreements, but also specifically regarding solving this problem. When I say this, I mean that they should implement what they have been criticizing since the beginning of making this decision, what the European Union and the mediator in the dialogue, Mr. Lajcak, have been talking about, as well as representatives of the American administration who told us in meetings that this decision is catastrophic and has the potential outlines of a humanitarian crisis that we have spoken about many times," Jevtic said.

He added that the fact that discussions and dialogue are still ongoing gives hope that a solution will be reached. He expressed the expectation that this solution will enable those who receive pensions, salaries, and social benefits to be able to withdraw their incomes in Kosovo in the future.
