Kabashi: Kurti is trying to sabotage the dialogue, he is causing great damage

Analyst Bekim Kabashi says that the actions of the institutions have been reckless and have caused great damage to Kosovo due to conflicts with the international community, Ekonomia Online reports.

Kabashi believes that Kosovo's Prime Minister Albin Kurti is trying to sabotage the dialogue process because he is being asked to establish the CSM. He says that Kurti's views when he was in opposition are preventing him from signing the establishment of the CSM, even though he agreed to it in Brussels and Ohrid.

"Kosovo has never been in a more difficult position since the dialogue with Serbia began because the Prime Minister demonizes the idea of the CSM. The CSM is presented to the public as the Republika Srpska and is a threat to Kosovo. Now, in the dialogue process where he is asked to establish the Community, Kurti cannot surpass himself, despite having agreed to an agreement with Serbia in Brussels and Ohrid and committed to implementing the CSM. He is now struggling with his own political behavior, as evidenced by the situation in the north. Kurti is trying to sabotage the process," Kabashi assesses.

He adds that it is clear that Kurti was unwilling to implement the Ohrid Agreement in practice.

"We saw that he went against the Ohrid Agreement in terms of its implementation by taking actions in the north without coordination with the international community, which asked him to take some interim steps," Kabashi said.

Kabashi believes that Kurti's decision on license plates was the biggest mistake, which is why tensions escalated.

"The license plates are purely a technical issue, and the dialogue process aims to resolve all problems between Kosovo and Serbia, not just license plates," Kabashi says.

Speaking about the problems in northern Kosovo, Kabashi is not very optimistic that they can be resolved even after the establishment of the CSM.

"Perhaps they will not be resolved quickly because despite the fact that the parties may reach an agreement on establishing the Association, there are still problems in the establishment process, but they were within the framework of agreements and within the state framework of Kosovo. If Kosovo agrees with Serbia to establish the CSM and Serbs agree as well, they are integrated into Kosovo's institutions, despite giving them a higher level of self-governance than the municipalities currently have. The Association is still within the framework of Kosovo's institutions, and of course, it will produce peace, with guarantees from the West," Kabashi believes.
