Konjufca: The closer Kosovo and Albania are, the easier it will be to protect the interests of the Albanian people
At the joint session of the parliaments of Albania and Kosovo, on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of Albania's independence, the president of the Kosovo parliament, Glauk Konjufca, said that November 28 belongs to Albania as much as Kosovo and that "it holds the collective dreams and common aspirations" of Albania and Kosovo in its bosom, Pristina portals report.
He said that the closer Kosovo and Albania were, the easier it would be to protect the vital interests of the Albanian people, Ekonomija online reports.
"We are with you and we have you in our hearts. November 28th carries in our hearts our collective dreams and great love for the nation. This day has its own symbolism to keep alive our emotions, pride, readiness. November 28th belongs to Albania as much as and Kosovo, therefore it belongs to all Albanians. When we were oppressed and lived under Yugoslav terror, our invincible people kept their love for their country, nation and Albanian language alive. The path was long and not at all easy," Konjufca said, Reporteri said.
Konjufca emphasized the importance of two events, citing the arrival of democracy in Albania and the liberation of Kosovo a few years later.
"Experience has taught us Albanians, history has taught us that as much as we should celebrate, we should think about the challenges we face. Today's world is less safe than yesterday as a result of Russia's attack on Ukraine. The only country connected to Russia is "Serbia, it fights against us from inside and outside, not choosing the means, from diplomacy to financing, which are related to crime," Konjufca said.
As reported by Ekonomija online, Konjufca said that November 28 carries "in its bosom a struggle and a long struggle for freedom as well as a great love for our people".
"This day has all the necessary symbolism to keep alive our deepest emotions, our highest pride, our most determined readiness and our most precious memories," Konjufca says.
"The closer Albania and Kosovo are to each other, the easier it will be to protect the vital interests of our people. We will be able to mark the next achievement as a nation only if we combine the wisdom of Ukshin Hoti, the patriotism of Adem Demaqi, the prudence of Fehmi Agani, the preparation of Gazmend Zajmi and the shrewdness of Arben Xhaferi. It seems that we read them all the time, because their political opinion is very valuable in the new circumstances of the 21st century," Konjufca said.
