Kosovo Police raided offices of PUC "Ibar Waterworks" in North Mitrovica

Members of the Kosovo Police and plainclothes inspectors have raided the offices of the Public Utility Company (PUC) "Ibar Waterworks" in North Mitrovica, which operates under the Serbian system.

Several Kosovo Police vehicles are currently stationed in front of the premises.

Workers are also present in front of the building, installing a sign for the Regional Waterworks located in Sipolje, in South Mitrovica.

Bashkim Kurti, Executive Director of the Regional Waterworks in Sipolje, South Mitrovica, stated that the purpose of the "visit to the north was to talk with colleagues."

"We, as the Mitrovica Regional Waterworks, are the only licensed institution for providing water and sewage services in the Mitrovica region. Since January 16, we have signed agreements to provide water and sewage services for every citizen in the four northern municipalities. Our main goal has been and remains to provide daily services to all citizens we supply with quality water that meets all standards set by the World Health Organization. Naturally, we aim to offer the best possible service for all citizens, including the billing of services received by our customers. Today is the first step, and despite the invitation we extended to our colleagues to sit down and discuss what we could do together in terms of development and providing better services to citizens, we have not yet encountered good cooperation," Kurti said.

He emphasized that today’s visit was "a bit different."

"We are here to install the sign of the Mitrovica Regional Waterworks, as we are required by law. On the other hand, we agreed with our colleagues in the north to create a list with our basic questions regarding the water network, the list of consumers and employees, if they have one, as well as other details related to the water system managed by colleagues from the north. In the meantime, we are trying to coordinate activities and improve the quality of services for consumers. Once again, the idea is to provide high-quality service to all citizens of the Republic, and specifically in this case, North Mitrovica and Zvecan are priorities, so we can then move forward with Zubin Potok and Leposavic. The goal, I emphasize again, is to ensure the supply and regular maintenance of quality water for all citizens under our administration – that is the idea," Kurti said.
