Lajcak: CSM will be established, but it is not currently on the agenda of the dialogue
The special envoy for dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo, Miroslav Lajcak, said tonight that the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities, as one of the apparently repeated demands of the international community, will be formed, based on one of the 15 existing European models, but that it is not currently on the agenda of the dialogue, Reporteri reported.
"That is not currently on the agenda of the dialogue," Lajcak told ATV.
Lajcak said that the Management Team should first present a proposal for the CSM, and then discuss the criticisms of both sides.
"This is clearly stated in the agreement from 2013. It is the management team that has to present the proposal and then both sides have the opportunity to give their counter-proposals and comments, and this is a process in which Kosovo and Serbia are equal partners. The European Union will make sure that what we have agreed on is in accordance with European standards and values," said Lajcak.
He also conveyed that he presented 15 European models of structures similar to the CSM to the Kosovo Prime Minister Aljbin Kurti, which, he says, could serve as an inspiration for how the CSM will function in Kosovo.
"There is no reason to be afraid. I presented Kurti with 15 European models and none of them led to dysfunction in the countries that implemented those models. None of those models have anything similar to Republic of Srpska. It is important that Kosovo and Serbia sign it, which will be harmonized with two documents from 2013 and 2015," concluded Lajcak.
