The European Union's Special Envoy for the Serbia-Kosovo Dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, stated this evening that imposing a decision on the opening of the bridge on the Ibar River against the will of the citizens does not contribute to the normalization of relations. He added that this issue will be discussed at the next meeting in Brussels.
Lajcak wrote on the social network "X" that the EU has repeatedly emphasized that the issue of the bridge in Mitrovica must be addressed in the dialogue led by the EU.
"Accusations that the EU is against the opening of the bridge or that it has changed its position are misleading," Lajcak stated.
He pointed out that imposing a decision against the will of the citizens affected by that decision does not contribute to the normalization of relations.
"Good governance understands the sensitivity of minorities. How to implement the agreement on the opening of the bridge will be discussed at the next meeting in Brussels," Lajcak added.
