Lajcak: Reducing the number of police officers is an important step towards full de-escalation

The Special Envoy of the European Union for dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, Miroslav Lajcak, welcomed the joint meeting of representatives of KFOR, EULEX, and the Kosovo Police on measures to de-escalate the situation in the north, in accordance with the Bratislava Agreement.

"I welcome today's first joint security assessment between the Kosovo Police, EULEX, and KFOR, as agreed in Bratislava. This is an important step towards a full de-escalation of tensions in the north of Kosovo," Lajcak wrote on Twitter.

The Kosovo Police announced earlier today that a work meeting had been held with representatives of EULEX and KFOR on the assessment of the security situation in and around municipal buildings in the north of Kosovo and that the situation had been assessed as good, based on which the reduction in the number of members of the Kosovo Police by 25 percent would begin tomorrow.

The meeting, as stated in the announcement, had been held in order to implement the agreements reached in Bratislava on July 10, 2023, between the European Union and Kosovo.
